As a functional medicine practitioner we will work together to get to the root cause of your health concerns. Together we’ll co-create your wellness goals within reasonable time frames and actionable objectives so you know exactly what you’re working toward.

My education has equipped me with extensive, cutting-edge knowledge in nutrition, health coaching, functional and lifestyle medicine. Drawing on my expertise, I work with my clients to help make lifestyle changes and choose health-promoting ways that produce real and lasting results. You will develop a deeper understanding of food and lifestyle choices that work best for you, improving your energy, balance, health, and happiness.

Each session will leave you feeling inspired and motivated. We will talk about things beyond food, seeking to bring balance to important elements of your life such as love and relationships as well as career and money. The ACLM recommends an eating plan based predominantly on a variety of minimally processed vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds to optimize your health.  I encourage you to Include a wide array of fiber-filled, nutrient-dense, and antioxidant-rich whole plant foods at every meal. Use a variety of herbs and spices to enhance flavors.

Primary
Food

Primary foods go beyond the plate and nurture us at a deeper level.  While nutrition, or secondary food, is essential for energy, primary foods are what fuel us and make us feel whole and complete. Examples of primary foods are relationships, career, spirituality, and physical activity.

Exploring your unique connection to primary foods is a critical piece of the wellness puzzle. Prioritizing space for an environment of healing includes primary foods such as laughter, joy, love, stress reduction, sleep, exercise, and even just breathing.

More than 70 percent of us are overweight or obese. Often when people attempt to lose weight they become frustrated and disheartened, and turn to supplements, pills, meal replacements, unhealthy fad diets, and surgery. Unfortunately, most of these are short-term solutions that end with the extra weight returning, often accompanied by troubling health consequences.

The mechanisms that regulate our body weight are highly complex—neurologic, genetic, hormonal, environmental, social, and even microbiologic factors are at play. But these factors do not necessarily determine our destiny! Individuality

No one diet or lifestyle works for everyone, and one person’s food can be another person’s poison. Just like we all have different taste in fashion, music, and movies, we tend to gravitate toward different foods and activities based on what we inherently know to be beneficial for us. After analyzing nearly 50,000 meals consumed by 1,000 participants, the Personalized Nutrition Project released findings from their multi-year study. These findings support:

  • Every food affects individuals differently. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to diet and nutrition.
  • There are many factors that affect the risk of obesity and metabolic disorders, but blood sugar regulation and microbiome diversity are key.
  • Guiding clients to improve gut health through basic food and lifestyle techniques is crucial to their overall health.
